Our research for a longer life
Scientific research realized until today could only slow down the involutional process of ageing, by working on certain factors, e.g., free radicals, waste products, shortening of telemer of chromosomes, all factors which will worsen the involutional situation if they are not controlled; but these factors cannot be defined as the specific fundamental cause of ageing. This fundamental cause has remained unknown so far, because of the lack, it may be assumed , of a new means of scientific knowledge, now represented by "biological Economy", the science which can be applied to the study of the involutional process of ageing, by means of a new "global research Method".
Considering the remarkable scientific progress already reached at present in many sectors, it is to be believed that the time has come for Humanity to wake up from her millenial sleep and solve the tragical contradictions which throughout the centuries have conditioned her sentimental and biological life, mainly because of her own guilty ignorance.
The research activity on the fundamental cause of ageing carried out by AIRPTI - thanks to the intuition and initiative of its president, Dr. Fernando Santarelli -, integrates the scientific research accomplished by the experiment of the ewe Dolly.
This experiment consisted in removing the "sexual" nucleus of the egg-cell of a ewe, and implanting into the same egg-cell the nucleus, with the complete DNA, of a "somatic mammary" cell - by itself mortal - of another ewe. Consequently to the the transfer of the nucleus of the somatic mammary cell with the complete DNA into the egg-cell, a new complete organism was originated. This, therefore, is the experimental demonstration of the possible immortality of the complete DNA, given certain conditions. Immortality of the DNA
Immortality of the cell DNA
The immortality of the DNA is obtained on condition that the "complete" DNA has the possibility to duplicate itself in daughter cells, and this is precisely what happens when a new complete organism is originated, starting from the "egg"-cell. Duplication is not possible in the "mammary" cell, or in any other "differentiated" cell, as these are part of an organism which cannot grow any longer, having already reached its complete development. The said organism, therefore, is destined to age and later, owing to the decreased cell efficiency, to die.
On the contrary, the same organism, on the basis of our scientific research, which was rendered possible by the new discipline of biological Economy and by the global method, is given the possibility to extend its vital existence, because duplication of the DNA can be achieved by means of an appropriate new biological procedure - which is illustrated by Dr. Santarelli's book "Alla conquista del Tempo dopo la conquista dello Spazio" (Setting out for the conquest of Time, after the conquest of Space) - . The said procedure is at present experimented by a Pharmacological University Institute.
After the extraordinary discovery of the structure and the programmatic and organizational function of the DNA, and of its possible immortality, which has been demonstrated by the clonation of the ewe Dolly, it has become still more urgent for Humanity, and particularly for the present generation, to set out without further delay, after having conquered the infinite Space, for the conquest of the infinite Time.
The global method
The term "global method" designates a scientific research method which, within the frame of biological Economy, examines the object under investigation, by the aid of the specific competence of several branches of science, each of which can clarify a particular aspect of the said object, such as: the physical, chemical, or genetical aspect.
For example, at the level of the cell, which may be considered the fundamental organizational element of the different organs, Physics may explain the phenomenon of "mitosis" - i.e., of cell division - as a consequence of physical unbalance between external surface of the cell membrane and the increased inner volume.
Likewise, biological Chemistry can clarify the phenomenon of cell "metabolism", while Genetics will clarify the activity of the structural, regulating and repressing "genes".
The global method allows an "analythic" as well as a "synthetic" vision of the object under investigation, examining its particular aspects, as well as its fundamental economic function within the organism.
In conclusion, a deeper knowledge of biological phenomena can be obtained only by examining each phenomenon under all its possible aspects. In order to meet the complexity of the phenomenon, and following the economic principle of "maximum result", or of "minimum means", economic principles, the method used for this research must necessarily be a global method, such as, precisely, is the method applied by the research on ageing of our Association.
The phenomenon of ageing - set against the background of biological Economy, and consequently, of the fundamental laws of supply and demand economic laws - appears as the consequence of the lacking respect of the balance of these laws in the course of time.
In fact, considering the absolute necessity of duplication of the DNA programmatic and organizational function of the DNA and application of economic principles and the increased "supply" of new cells resulting herefrom, once the organism reaches its complete development, the "demanded" space for containing the new cells will be lacking. The result is a lower "economic cell efficiency", which, precisely, characterizes ageing. Consequently, the fundamental cause of ageing is clearly indicated, and consists in an "unbalance" between the increased supply of new cells, not compensated by a suitable higher "demand" of space, consequently to of the complete final development meantime reached by the organism.
Therefore, the biological procedure for contrasting the phenomenon of ageing is indicated, and substantially consists in the elimination of the aged cells, which are detected by means of appropriate biological indicators, in order to create space for the new cells. This is exactly the procedure applied by our scientific research on biological indicators, which is carried on by the aid of an Institute of Experimental Research at the University of Milan.
Under these circumstances, it becomes clear that free radicals, waste products, antibodies and telemer shortening are in fact "effects" of ageing, which is already in course, and may be considered at most as "contributory causes". These tend to worsen the phenomenon, and consequently, must be adequately opposed.
